Although its nothing like the stabilizers which go on motorbikes. To gorck250, a lot of road bikes dont need steering dampeners. It comes down to the weight, forks, the rake of the forks (also the overall motrobike design) etc. You could probably design a mountain bike which didn't need a stering at that sort of speed but it defianetly wouldn't handle mountain bike trails very well.
